Research Interests

Architectural Education: Design Studio teaching and Learning-by-Making studios

Currently engaged in PhD studies at the University of Newcastle, “Rethinking the Architectural Design Studio in Australasia”, under the supervision of A/P Tony Williams and Prof. Michael Ostwald. This work is a later phase of larger research project into “Understanding Architectural Education in Australasia” (Ostwald and Williams, 2008), which Louise was a significant member of the research team. Earlier research has examined the educational benefits of ‘Learning-by-Making Studios’ (known in the US as Design-build studios) at the University of Tasmania. See publication list above.
